Anyone got any experience linking an extender unit to the Behringer XTouch ?

Been using an XTouch for over a year, and it's fine.
Got an extender a few days ago and have the xtouch set to port 102 and the extender set to port 103.
Both are set to Mackie control and USB in the setting where you hold select on channel 1 as you power it on.
The faders moved to their default position and FL is recognizing it as a usb device that's plugged into the xtouch......but......the screens are all blank. Powered on, but blank.
I think I have something set wrong on FL's midi page, so could anyone help me make it the rest of the way as the Behringer manual is no help and only shows the hardware config, but not the settings within a DAW.
