Split by Channel on pattern with one channel

I've noticed that when I select "Split by Channel" on a pattern with one channel, I get this warning:

Splitting only makes sense if the pattern contains at least two channels that have data.

But I can then press ok. Am I right to assume that this means the function is simply a no-op in this case? I am used to software greying out options that don't make sense to use at the time.
