Midi keyboard input mapped to instruments in channel rack instead of piano roll

I recently connected a midi keyboard to FL and am experiencing an quirk where input will play a single middle c note from each instrument/sample in the channel rack and will not register in the piano roll. For example c5 on the keyboard corresponds to the first channel rack instrument, d5 the second, e5 the third, and so on.

Despite this, the debug log correctly identifies which keys are being pressed as they are pressed. I have reinitialized the keyboard's connection several times to the same result.

I am a bit of a beginner in this environment, did I miss something simple or obvious?
