Clicks/pops from slicing samples

I just noticed that if I slice a sample in the playlist, there will be a noticeable clicking/popping sound where the two slices meet, even if it's the same unaltered sample continuing from the same spot where the slice was made. Why does this happen? Is there a way to fix it?
