I'm trying to find out how FL Studio behaves in respect of audio thread priorities, in respect of ASIO and MMCSS in Windows 10.
As far as I can tell, there's a limit of 32 MMCSS-prioritised (level 26) threads in Windows 10 (that wasn't there in Win7/8.1 but that's a different topic).
I have an RME audio interface which allows me to switch MMCSS on or off.
When it's off, FL Studio's audio thread gets priority 15 - which I believe is 'Normal', i.e. just normal audio - and there's no 32 thread limitation.
When it's on, FL Studio gets priority 26 - but I assume that then means no more than 32 (minus 4 system-required threads)?
If I use my Zoom U44 audio interface, FL Studio gets priority 26 - presumably because Zoom implement MMCSS in their audio driver?
So... if I have this right, the choice is to limit the number of threads, or limit the priority but use more cores. Is that right?
Cheers
