Midi out capture to directwave instrument?

When I saw this feature of creating a directwave instrument from VST's I was excited.

I ordered a skiff for my Moog Mavis and a Midi module with the hopes that I could design a sound and then tell Directwave how to capture the notes once Midi Out was setup.

So to be clear, I *can* hear and capture sounds from Mavis. If I open Edison and do all the work I can get this to work.

But I was really hoping having midi access to my Synth would allow Directwave to create a recording loop. Where it plays the notes, records and chops them up for me so all I'd have to do is create 2 copies and double track the sound.

Is there any particular reason why DirectWave cannot do this?
