Electronic Drum Kit

Sorry if this is not right category, wasn't sure if I should be posting this in MIDI support or here...

My intention is to be able successfully transfer the notes/half notes and possibly velocity to my FL piano roll as I perform on my electronic drums.

Would any electronic drum kit with USB/Midi work?

What are some draw backs or anyone correctly using or producing please advise.

I tried controllers like maschine mikro but am not satisfied with the ability of playing beats on it. So I'm looking for the real feel of drumming and digitizing my beats.
