Playing sample with piano roll sound doesnt stop

Hi folks just wondered if theres something i am doing wrong. I load an 808 sample (not instrument) onto a channel. When I listen to the sample before I load it in, it lasts around 1.5 secs and the sound 'changes' (for lack of better description, the sound 'wobbles') as it plays for the length of that duration and fades out, which is what i expect because this is how the sample sounds if i listen to it in windows explorer. However when I try to use it on Piano roll, the sound gets to around half way through the sample but then stays the same continuously and loses its fade out and the wobble effect, if i take my finger off the key it stops abruptly. Is there a box I have to tick or option to make it play like it does in the preview? Thank you.
