trying to drag and drop mp3 file into playlist

Last week I was able to move this converted mp3 file from finder into the playlist w out any issues. I just tried doing it again but this time it's not letting me. I'm trying with the same instrumental that'd worked successfully before but now when I go to drag and drop any beat, it's not allowing me to. I tried sending it to edison audio editor and hitting "send to playlist" in attempts to work my way around this but "access violation" pops up.
