So I've been using FL for a long time and have always stuck to the same two methods of sidechaining: using a silent kick with Fruity Peak Controller to automate the volume of other sounds, and the usual method with routing sounds through a compressor (is this the "correct" way...?). I like the FPC method because sometimes I want to have the bass and pads pumping without the kick drum playing.
But I've noticed lately that people have different methods, such as using volume automation clips and copying + pasting them everywhere, and now there's this new plugin called Kickstart that claims to be the easiest and superior way to sidechain but I don't know if it's worth it or not.
Is there a "best" way to sidechain or is it just personal preference?
How do you sidechain, and why?
