Solo a send track?

Hey all. How do you solo a send track? What i mean is... when you press on solo of course it is silent as you've muted the inserts being sent to it. But when you alt+solo, you hear the send PLUS all the other tracks. When i just want to hear the send.

A work around i have is using a "pre master", which i use anyway. All tracks go to this before master (apart from my outboard gear, to get timings right) Now if i route the send track directly to the master, and not to the pre master, i can hear just the send.

Gotta be a better way of doing this? As without the pre master, there is no way to do it other than turning down each separate " route to master"volume knob for each insert. Which is mad.

Must be missing something right under my nose
