Audio playback problem

Periodically and randomly while working in fl studio the audio will just cut out. Sometimes it also will be silent upon opening fl. What fixes it is to change any mixer channels audio input source or audio output target. Or go into audio settings and change the device. Then it will snap out of that nonsense. No I dont have any other programs running or anything else open when this happens. This is a super irritating problem that constantly disrupts workflow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
