Just bought Hexcel a arp chord generator but just makes one note

Hello, I just bought Hexcel a midi generator/chord/arp thing for fun, I set the midi out channel to 5 and then set midi in on Serum to 5 and it creates a noise but it doesn't play the Hexcel, usually Hexcel lights up and plays with the bpm but this just kinda stops at one note, I noticed the midi event on the parameters page is set to midi in and I can't change it, I suppose it should be set to midi out but not sure how to get these things to work. I wish the midi routing was easier.
