Newbie Help - Sample Problems

Hi all
Just learning the basics about FL and consutructing tunes. One area I'm terrible at is importing samples.

I create the samples in 16bit and are never more than 4 seconds in length. When I drag these on to the sequencer they go mad!!!!

They loop over, over and over before the one before ends creating a complete and utter din! Probably because the sample is too long for the sequence. Can I somehow stretch the single sample rather than the sample being lauched over and over?

Any thoughts or tips would be most welcome
