I'm not sure about Sound Card FAQ answer...

It was writen, that "your sound card will affect the sound quality of your final rendered tracks is if you have used recordings or samples made with it (sound card) in your track". Yes, it will not lower the quality of recordings and samples if you didn't made them by your self, but it will affect your decisions in mix making process, because you are connecting your earphones or amplifier to the sound card and hear sound which comes out of it. If the sound card is poor, your recorded version will be something you not expected, it will be different from version that you heard on your earphones. The difference depends on how bad your sound card is. Am I understood something not right???

Thanks for answer
