Best way to lay down a bass guitar track?

Hi All

What is the best way of laying down a bass guitar track? I have a bass line but no phusical bass guitar. I have tried using Piano roll but can not get the pick patern correct. Is there a way of paying a virtiual instrument via my pc keyboard that will allow me to record straight into FL as opposed to putting notes straight onto piano roll?

All ideas welcome.
