Audio slows and pops when displaying meter graphics

I don't think this is an FL problem, but I know I've seen this subject before.

When using certain plugins like the Voxengo Span meter, my audio pops and slows down. This plugin has a "dancing line" for the meter display, other "bar" type meters do not cause this problem.

I'm suspecting there may be a video setting I need to change or something? My computer is an AMD 4200 Dual Core, Audio card: M-Audio 24/96.

Any help is appreciated.
