So I've been working on a drum track for a while (a death metal drum track) and despite getting things reasonably the way I want them to sound, I think sometimes there's clashing in frequency ranges. The cymbals are (I think) not overly loud but compared to the snare the snare gets a bit washed out. The cymbals I high passed between 500 and 600 hz. The snares are high passed around 400hz. Also I followed general rules with my kick and made a cut around 30hz, but when I do "the car test" (to make stye I won't blow anything/see how things are balanced) it doesn't really hit how I'd like. I compressed a lot of elements to sort of give it that "maximum intensity" vibe.....how "real" I have to sound? Idk, I've heard a fair amount of bands that don't sound real that use drum machine.
In short.....give this a listen?
