Don’t. Instead, if you are a beginner (or curious about using beginner mind-set), choose what you have. I am amazed at such tools as visualizers. Why? Because it lets me SEE sound. Otherwise, how would I ever know what sound looks like? This however does not be the all-end-all tip for music producers. Choose what you have and don’t give up. Sometimes it’s only after we have reached the end do we then find the beginning.
