The most pronounced effect I noticed was that the decay of the outermost voices is reduced, resulting in a more plucky sound, whilst the remaining voices seem to have the decay lengthened slightly, and in some cases I can't hear a difference for these.
With a unison of 1 or 2, both voices have decay reduced.
Does anyone know more precisely what's going on? The manual doesn't make it clear how the variation is applied.
