Solid Bass from DX100 / Lately Bass from Tx81Z

This patch was made by first importing a Sysex file into FM8 and then copying the patch to Sytrus, knob by knob, envelope by envelope, carefully checking sound by ear and spectrum. Sytrus could not import the Sysex file in question most likely because Sytrus expects DX7 presets and not DX100 presets. The Sysex file came from "4 OP H.Q." here: http://nuxmicromedia.com/4ophq/cgi-bin/ ... mode=dx100 and from the "dx100_2.syx" bank from the "DX27-100_Presets.zip" . The Solid Bass from DX100 is apparently similar to Lately Bass from Tx81Z, both 4 operator FM synths. The original patch had a small vibrato that was more like a slow frequency shake for movement. You could disable this in Sytrus by turning off all OP6 matrix knobs as that is how I implemented the vibrato in Sytrus. As this is a pure FM patch, filter ADSR is not hooked up to anything, but volume ADSR is. Decay and release sliders buy some length to the decays. Be careful with sustain as you'll get a nasty squelch. Sustain should probably not be adjusted as all the volume envelopes decay to a zero level loop typical of DX7 patches. Phase of all operators starts at a peak intentionally to get that ticky attack sound. The patch is most similar to Haddaway's "What Is Love?" bass and many Italo disco songs.
