Hello everyone!
This has been gnawing at me for quite some time now, and I can't figure it out after trying a bunch of things. Can anyone explain to me what is exactly done when you go to RM matrix in Sytrus, and just tweak the 1x1 knob there to introduce OP 1 self-ring mod? I would have expected that the signal goes from normal sine to a sine one octave higher (and rectified above zero), but instead, the sound goes to complete silence!
So I thought maybe it's crossfading between dry sine and ringmodulated signal, but nope that's not it. There's some waveshaping going on, too, the waveform gets more notched (like a comb filter) depending on RM amount being positive or negative.
Super weird and unexpected/not intuitive stuff. So I'd really like to know what exactly is the background of this phenomenon?
Thanks!
What EXACTLY does self-ring mod do?

Always good to discover things by breaking them...
