Can't load ANY presets to FPC???

Really frustrated... usually FPC works well but today it has its default colored sounds on the 1-17/32 pads which I can't seem to remove/clear. What is most startling is how the "< >"-preset buttons are not visible next to " _ [] x ".

Another question, where can I change the "master"-track that seems to be permanently "stuck" in the mixer-window? Any first melody/audio I put in seem to get this "master" or highlighted position "M" in the mixer-section. Trivial concern compared to the primary problem.
