FL Studio won't record score/automation from MIDI controller

I have just started using a Guitar Hero World tour drum kit as a MIDI controller in FLStudio. It works fine when I'm just playing around on it, but when I try to record score & automation with it, nothing happens. I can still hear it while I'm "recording", but once I stop recording, no information has been recorded.
