Using a midi keyboard while in performance mode

hi! i'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere on here, i'm just not really sure how to search this question.

i have a setup of an akai fire, akai midimix, and an alesis v49 keyboard. when i'm in performance mode, both the fire and midimix work fine, but whenever i try to play the v49, nothing happens, even though fl is saying it's receiving a signal whenever i press a key.

is there any way to make my midi keyboard playable while performance mode is running? thanks!
