Unable to get sound from Akai MPK mini pads or Alesis Crimson II drumset

Reposting this below since I was told technical support was the wrong forum to post in, hoping somebody here can help me with this issue!

My main issue is trying to get sounds playing from my Alesis Crimson II electronic drum set, but I noticed I was able to replicate the problem with the pads from my Akai MPK mini mk3 as well. The MPK is using the default FL studio program -- the following screenshot shows the configuration of the MPK

I'm using FPC for drums, and while it seems that FL studio is receiving midi signals that should trigger the drums, I don't hear any sound being played. I've used the midi debugger and see that I can send midi signals (for example D3 == snare drum) in four different ways:

- Keys on my full size M-Audio keyboard (D3)
- Keys on the MPK (D3)
- Pads on the MPK (Bank A pad 6)
- Drum pad on the Alesis (snare drum)

The first two (M-Audio Keys, MPK keys) I get sound playing from, but the second two (MPK pads, Alesis snare) no sound plays. I'm not sure exactly what all of these numbers mean so I'm not sure what the difference is in the signal if all are sending a D3. I've attached below a screenshot also of my midi settings -- I have the same issue with the MPK if I set the controller type as (generic controller):
