How to turn a FLDashboard into a Synthmaker Dash?

I created this dashboard to control protools via midi.. it works great, but some of the buttons have multiple states and it would be awesome if i could use Synthmaker to display these states

I tried to check out some example synths but they are mostly oriented to generating audio. I want to send MIDI data. Are there any simple example dashboards with only 1 control which sends a midi CC signal?

Also, how do you set up the artwork for the synth/dashboard? is there a good tutorial I could look at?
