EARL SWEATSHIRT- UNCLE AL: Best Drum-Mixdown I've heard
I am using this track as a reference for a mix-down of a similar beat by mine, but I just can't get close enough to this semi acoustic(?) drum-set. It is sooo good, I feel like, if I could mix down (and of course sound-design) like this, I could do anything.
I tried using two different acoustic drum-sets from Abbey-roads 60s vintage drummer ONE LEFT, ONE RIGHT (ca. 80% each) which is pretty stereo but compared to the reference???? HELL NO and not as LOUD either... it's so comfortable AND loud AND stereo at the same time *goosebumps*
I am not a complete newbie to mixing and I got the incoming 808 part pretty close, so i am hoping for some pro tips and great ideas how to recreate/achieve that sound.
Thank you so much in advance
Big love
Leon
