Building on the one-button A/B comparison of effect plugins, I wanted to create a simple Patcher preset for one-button A/B comparison of two Mixer Inserts.
This is meant to ease comparison of a track (or mix) with a reference track, switching between the two using only a single button.
Setup
1.) Load the reference track onto the Playlist and route to Mixer Insert- (MI-) 1 (yellow).
2.) Load your own track into the Playlist and route to MI-2 (blue). Alternatively, route all other Mixer Inserts of your mix (4, 5, 6, etc.) exclusively to MI-2, i.e. disconnect their cables to the Master MI.
3.) On MI-3, load the Patcher effect preset 'Mixer Insert_A-B Comparison_Alphagem-O_V1.0.fst'. Make sure MI-3 is routed exclusively to the Master MI.
4.) Route MI-1 exclusively to MI-3, and MI-2 also exclusively to MI-3 using the respective cables.
5.) Start playhead transport and click on the central button in Patcher to switch sound between MI-1 (yellow) and MI-2 (blue). Adjust volume and pan using respective knobs as needed.
Sound improvements/alterations can be inserted into the effects chains of MI-1 and MI-2, respectively.
