Format for Different Genres

I've spent practically all day watching what tutorials I could find for this app. I'm still a bit confused as to the format or forumula I should be using to make a r&b beat/hip-hop beat/rap beat. I've seen some people start out with making a Melody first or making the drums first. I guess it doesn't matter in that respect but what would the easiest way be for a beginner? I am wanting to make a tropical trap beat and don't know what all I need to do to be able to achieve this?
