Can't record audio from otherwise working USB audio device

Hi. I have an M-Audio Fast Track which I use to record various instruments. I've successfully connected it to FL Studio Mobile on both my android phone and tablet. It's USB compliant so it powers up fine and can connect my headphones to it to monitor audio from the app.

My problem lies when I try to connect an instrument to it to record audio. I open an audio recording track and can hear the instrument and see the audio levels change. But when I try to record, it results in just an empty audio file.

Am I missing a setting or something I have to set up for it to record? Like I said, I can hear it through the headphones connected to the M-Audio and FL Studio Mobile is registering the audio levels. It just won't record.

Any help is appreciated.
