General question about FlM

Can anyone give me a better more detailed explanation of how the “filter” is different from using the 2 eq fx in regards to the 24db 48db and 96db
What exactly do they mean ? I feel like if I had a more in depth explanation than the guide already has I’d be able to utilise it much better
Using any eq cut on the fIlter does seem to make things louder but say for example if I select around 6k+ on low pass on 96db it makes the bass extremely loud but not in the same way that using any other fx does. I feel like the filter along with the 24db 48db n 96db aspect can really help in getting a much louder mix
