Recording vocals

Hi. My problem is that whenever I record a vocal take, to listen to it back, I have to route it to a different insert to the one I recorded it to. Is there any way to do this automatically. Also, I know you can send the input to an output on a different insert, but still the problem persists that I have to then re route the output channel to the mixer to hear myself back. This is because when I record, I don't like listening to myself so I don't route the recording insert to the master. Any advice please would be much appreciated.
