When I try to set Cubase to 6/8 time and FL to 6/8 FL is slo

So I have the tempo track set at 143, and also 6/8 time.

If I have a FL Project in rewire and just leave it at 4/4 the tempo is fine

However if I change the FL project settings to 6/8 like the cubase project and attempt to program a beat in a way that makes sense to the overall project, the FL Studio plays back slower.

Am I missing something?

The obvious work around is to leave the fl project in 4/4 and just program the beat in 6/8 within those constraints.
