"Recording Count-in" turns on when recording

Is there a way to prevent the "Recording Count-in" from turning on when I start a recording? This is a toggle button, so I assumed that if it's off, I won't get the count-in. But even if toggled off, it automatically turns on when I start recording. This makes it difficult when recording in 3/4 time because I have to make my own click in 3/4. When using my own click, I want to prevent the default count-in from turning on.

Steps:
1. Make sure "Recording Count-in" button isn't highlighted (off).
2. Arm a mixer track for audio recording.
3. Click the record button, choose record to playlist, then record audio.

The "Recording Count-in" button turns on and recording starts.
