FL Studio 12/20 both crashing my PC

I've been having issues where the interface would lag or freeze and it gets so fierce that it sometimes causes my whole PC to freeze (my HDD read/write light stops). The times that I've managed to see it happen when I had my task manager open, it said that FL was running at 40-51% CPU and using roughly 2GB RAM. So far I've tried updating and reseting my settings, and complete reinstalls of FL and plugins to no avail. My pc has a 3.2GHz i5, 8Gb RAM, GTX770 4GB, Win10 x64, and I am using two monitors.
