Akai Fire in sleep mode

So i'm plugging in my Fire and it just stays in sleep mode. Even when I open FL, it pops the window up to let me know that I have to plug in my Fire at least once a month on Basic edition. When I click Continue and then go to the About section to sign in, the Fire STILL stays in sleep mode and doesn't allow me to use it at all; if I close out and open the DAW again, the same thing happens. I've uninstalled and reinstalled FL 20 in hopes that this would fix the problem but no such luck. Furthermore, if there are any Ableton users, I'm not able to use my Akai MPK Mini MK2; it lights up but there is no MIDI sound. Needless to say, i'm frustrated with everything. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME???
