Can i adjust the "normalize" level?

Good morning,
I don´t know if i`m in the right section of the forum.
My Question:
can i adjust the level of the "normalize" function. If i click the normalize button (precomputed effects) of my audio it puts the volume level very much up. Is it possible to adjust the level of this function.
Sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand my question.
Thank you!
