Plugin settings revert to default after saving and reloading project

I create a new project, add some plugin, choose any preset and save the project. On reopening the project the plugin has reverted to the default state. I'm not sure if it's not saving the preset values or if it is not retrieving them on load. This is happening with newly created projects as well as ones I created months ago.

Using FL Studio vs 20.8.3.2304
Windows 10
32 gigs of ram

FL is installed on my D drive under the default program files directory and I have the image-line folder in the root of that drive as well because if I let it default to my user profile folder it gets sucked up into the onedrive vortex!
