Keyboard shortcuts randomly stop working

Recently at random points while I'm working on a project, my keyboard shortcuts stop working (I am unable to use Ctrl + S, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + B, etc). Turning off the typing keyboard option does not fix this. However, I noticed that typing on Fruity Notebook works, so it seems that my keyboard doesn't stop working altogether. The only fix that I have found is to close and re-open the session, but due to my low specification PC, it's a hassle to open projects and wastes a lot of time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
