DAW lags but runs perfectly when tabbed outside the program

Hello.

I have an issue with my DAW where when I'm working inside the project the DAWs is very laggy. When I click the taskbar or when viewing the DAW from another window, the DAW runs perfectly. Is there a fix for this? I've recently upgraded my rig to an i7-12700k so the performance inside the DAW isn't as bad as before but it still messes with my workflow.
