Set a Playlist Clip Track to remain in view when scrolling the playlist, why? well imagine this example. You set an Audio based Vocal track as sticky and as you scroll countless other tracks you can happily align your clips in time with the vocal or vise versa, having what ever tracks you choose to have sticky to reference from would really help gel a more solid groove overall and in combination with the current 'lock to size' option would work really well imo.
another example of use is to aid in the very common practice of Linear sequencing... I don't have certain elements of my song start on the same note time e.g. I keep secondary kicks separate to my main kick simply because its unnoticeable playing at same time but adds to muddiness, I also try to have my bass separate to kick and often toms so to sticky the kick track saves a lot of scrolling time and remembering on which note was what in a complicated pattern of potentially clashing sounds. Now yes using the step sequencer is very handy already for linear sequencing but when using audio clips the playlist is better and also layering multiple step sequencer based patterns in the playlist can create overlapping hits. Reducing polyphony of sampler channels to one and setting up cut groups can help with these issues too of course but still the process would be improved further with Sticky tracks.
Problems and solutions
If you have multiple 'sticky tracks' in view at one time this could pose a problem that they simply took up too much screen space which means you would spend time scrolling multiple 'stickys' which defeats the original intended purpose. To combat this I propose only one specialist 'sticky track' that displays a user selected track from a 'sticky list'.
The particular 'sticky track' needed at any given time could be called into view on a cycle basis from either a user selected list or from a list of all Paylist Clip Tracks currently in use. If the list was a user defined list maybe when any clip type (audio/pattern/automation) is added to an empty playlist track that track could be automatically added to the 'sticky list' on an opt out basis rather than an opt in? This list could be accessed via a visual button and or keyboard command and also the mouse scroll wheel hovered over the 'sticky track' could cycle through the list perhaps?
Having only one 'sticky track' now poses a second problem. Using Vocals as an example say like me you like your main vocals on one track but harmonies on another yet you have added both of these tracks to your 'sticky list' then how can you view both together? Well I propose that the specialist 'sticky track' be a mirrored track that mirrors the data of the selected as apposed to actually moving the data of that track. This way even if a track is pooled in the 'sticky list' it can still be seen as part of the normal playlist tracks. So using the vocal example above that way you could select 'main vocal' to view on the 'sticky track' and then scroll the playlist to view the harmonies which are still part of your 'sticky list' but as they are not called into view at that time we can still view them as part of the whole playlist.
