Right now it's possible to do absolute linking to mixer channels, and that's helpful, but, no one has a hardware controller with enough physical thingies.
However, if the mixer exposed Pan, Volume, and Solo controls for the "currently selected" channel, it would then be possible for anyone with any sort of hardware controller at all to assign them, thus creating a hardware "channel strip". For example, I own an M-Audio Code 69, which has what they call "360 encoders", which is posh talk for an infinite pot - it just keeps turning forever. It enables you to tweak whatever control you're touching, rather than forcing it to whatever physical position a slider or conventional knob might have.
And it strikes me that it would be perfect for this application.
Falls under the category of "that'd be so nice".
Request: Please expose parameters for "selected" mixer channel, to allow hardware channel strip
