Hi I got an idea that might work. You know best. But I was using the ios app called Groovebox (by Novation - Ampify) and their keyboard has global scale locking with 7 scales or so and you can set the key. Then what happens is the keyboard changes to that scale. You can also set the intervals of keys to 3 , 5, 7 ,12. 6 is my favorite.
Anyway what if the virtual keyboard had all this and also could be locked to an external midi controller. Then any white keys we pressed on an external controller would trigger this keyboard which would override and play on any selected instrument as well as enter notes into the piano roll? There you go scale locking.
The virtual pads could also be used in this way and even used to enter chords for triggering into the piano roll as well.
So these are a few ideas maybe you can use.

another side point that would be good is if the stamp chord tool allowed a preview of some sort before pasting them into the piano roll.
