Sometimes having each track as a stereo channel pair gets in the way, and sometimes I'd just like to use a more analog hardware style workflow. I always found it somewhat strange that FL doesn't even have the option to make a mixer track mono. Most real mixers have mostly mono tracks, occasionally with some stereo pairs at the end of the range. Other DAWs have the option to make individual tracks mono or stereo. It's mostly a convenience thing, but it'd be nice to have some built-in tools for that kind of workflow. Lots of stereo mixing techniques would be a lot more straightforward with mono tracks, such as mid-side miking or balancing instead of panning (balancing = raising the volume of one channel and lowering the other, vs. panning = mixing one channel into the other). You can do these things with the Stereo Shaper, but it'd be nice to have this built into the mixer.
