Hey folks!
Thanks for the great software.
This feature has been requested a few times, i.e. viewtopic.php?f=100&t=210572&p=1425651 and viewtopic.php?f=600&t=245613&p=1566224, but I'd love to see this happen!

* Add ability to set the BPM beat to any note duration from a sixteenth note to a whole note, including dotted lengths, e.g. quarter note = 120bpm, dotted quarter note = 120bpm, sixteenth note = 220bpm.
* Add ability to automate this in Playlist
Why
This matches Western music notation more accurately, allows for more sensible BPM levels, and makes the metronome click tenable for time signatures where note lengths less than a quarter note are used to determine the beat, e.g. 6/8 or 15/16. As it stands, you either have to move the time signature denominator to a quarter note or higher, or have a BPM north of 200 to accurately count, which largely makes time signatures with denominators of 8 or 16 unusable.
Happy to elaborate or add any context, but the two posted threads, particularly the first one, are pretty well definitive of this limitation. Thanks folks!
Allow different note lengths to "take the beat" when determining BPM
