UX Bug? - Shift clicking a selection copies it prior to dragging

Hey, so, i have a few projects where I have noticed that i have random layers of the same pattern on top of itself in the timeline
I just figured out how I have managed to do this

Shift-click-drag is an intuitive feature and works well, except when you accidentally click twice, this post on reddit (linked below, not sure how to stop it from embedding) makes the same assumption as I did as to how it works though

It's not in fact Shift-click-drag, it's just shift-click that causes the duplication, so if you have anything selected and then click on it while holding shift it will create a layered duplicate without any real indication that this has happened - if you accidentally double click for example you end up with three copies, two layered on top of each other and one you are dragging around.

I think this behaviour is a problem and could easily be addressed by not actually creating the copy until it is actually shifted in position on the grid.
