Good idea. But just so you know, you could do this with a Corsair gaming mouse and iCue.
You could numb the output of the scroll wheel. But have any button you want, while held down, activate the scroll wheel with a preset toggle macro. So you hold the button down to use the scroll wheel on your knobs. Or you could have a MIDI controller, have one knob set aside as the permanent 'volatile link'. Tweak any knob you want with the mouse and that knob takes over. Then you can keep your scroll wheel off always.
