Quiet Audio Clips - Not Visible - (Playlist View)

The problem:

Quiet audio clips: In Playlist view, the wave form of an audio clip can be so quiet that there is no wave form visible.

The only way I can remedy this is by normalizing the audio clip and then turning down the gain to compensate. This, however, is an imprecise process and can therefore impact the balance of an ongoing mix. It also impedes work-flow.

Solution

I would like to see a 'magnification' feature added. This would be within the audio clip window - to upscale the image of the wave form, while leaving the actual amplitude unchanged. I have attached a screenshot with a red box, there's space for such a feature.

It could be as simple as 'normalizing' the image, or it could be a variable scale using a knob. Even using a shortcut such as CTRL + scroll wheel over the wave form would help resize it quickly.
