Tips for Getting Started

Last week during class I presented a song and explained the process, anyways, so today someone told me they had just bought FL Studio and was new to the Workflow. I tried introducing some basics, explaining how to add instruments and the basics of the piano roll. I am pretty familiarized with the controls in FL Studio but i don't know how should i try teach someone the very basics so they won't become confused or just how to get started. Unfortunately he didn't get the getting started manual from FL Studio. He did say he watch some videos.
